Information Technology

The Information Technology major at La Roche University puts the latest technology at your fingertips, allowing you to master the skills necessary to meet the technology needs of business, government, health care, schools and many other organizations.

Career-Focused Curriculum

This major explores how information is used in organizations, and how IT enables improvement in quality, timeliness and competitive advantage. The program focuses on the six critical components of information systems:

  • Hardware
  • Software
  • Data
  • Policies and procedures
  • People and communication

You’ll complete coursework in information systems and technology, problem solving, database, networking, java programming, and systems analysis and design.

    Hands-On Experience

    You’ll work with state-of-the-art computers, operating systems, databases, electronics, networks and human-computer interfaces. Our IT students may work as work-study students assisting in the computer labs, Help Desk or IT Department. They also may serve as peer tutors for IT or computer science classes.

    As part of your coursework, you’ll also participate in website development for local nonprofit organizations, as well as training, presenting and creating documentation for outside clients.

    What Can You Do With Your Degree?

    Upon graduation you’ll be prepared for employment in a wide range of technical computer-based occupations including:

    Scholarships

    In addition to La Roche’s merit-based scholarships, we offer annual and endowed scholarships, thanks to our generous donors. 

    Robert B. Anticole Endowed Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship provides one annual award to a currently enrolled full-time student.

    • Limited to a junior or senior in the next academic year who is majoring in computer science, computer information science or information technology, who has a minimum GPA of 3.65 and is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States
    • Essay and two letters of recommendation are required
    • Non-renewable award
